I believe the first-person core of meaning has something to do with the physical energetics and mode of consciousness of the human system. Meaning is a cosmo-mechanical potential in the human being of a very profound social order. From our ordinary point of view in space and time this potential gives us the capacity to form concepts of objects, events and situations (rules and expectations under which it becomes possible for us to handle those things) that in themselves are wholly transcendent over our ordinary consciousness. Meanings are concepts. Without concepts and the judgment of concepts, there is no human experience, only animal consciousness, and beyond those concepts and judgments, there is psychedelic mystery.
